Characteristics of Life

“In the beginning, God created…” Life begins with God. We are the result of the intelligent mind of the Creator.

Everything that is alive shows the detailed handiwork of God. In this unit, we will begin by looking at what God created during creation week. We will then look at the similar qualities of all living things that make them living! This unit is designed for grades 7-9 Life Science and Biology courses and can last for a period of two to three weeks. Each lesson includes a lesson plan and, as applicable, notes for the PowerPoint, relevant video, lab assignment, and assessment quiz. Teachers are encouraged to manipulate the lesson plans to fit their teaching styles and to best meet the learning styles of their students.

In this unit, students will be able to:

  • Distinguish between Biotic and Abiotic factors
  • List, Identify, and Describe six characteristics of all living things
